How to Update Spingle

Over the air and manual updates, and what to do after one

We release updates frequently, often bi-weekly! These updates include crucial bug fixes, performance improvements, and refinements to the AI features based on tester feedback. Keeping your version updated is essential for the best experience.

Update Methods:

There are two primary ways you'll receive updates:

1. ✨ Over-The-Air (OTA) Updates

• How it Works: Spingle includes an OTA update system. When a new mandatory or recommended version is available, a prompt may appear directly within the Spingle panel inside Premiere Pro when you launch it.

• Action: Simply follow the instructions in the prompt to download and install the update automatically.

• This is the easiest and preferred method.

2. 📧 Manual Updates via Download Link

• How it Works: For some major updates, or if an OTA update encounters issues, we may send an email to testers containing a direct download link for the new installer (.exe or .dmg).

• Action: Download the new installer from the link provided in the email and run it just like you did during the initial installation.

Checking Your Current Version

Not sure if you're on the latest ?

• You can typically find the version number within the Spingle panel. Look in the Settings or Menu (often represented by three lines at the top right).

• Compare this version number (e.g., v3.0.1-alpha) to the latest version mentioned in our recent emails or on the Release Notes page.

🚨 CRUCIAL: Restart Premiere Pro After EVERY Spingle Update! Whether you update via OTA or manually install a new version, you MUST fully quit and restart Adobe Premiere Pro for the changes to take effect correctly. Skipping this step can lead to unexpected behavior or errors.

After updating, the Spingle panel starts empty. Re-add your sequences and press Analyze. Footage you already analyzed loads quickly, unless the update started the cache fresh (the release notes say when). On a deadline? Finish the project before you update. See Reopening a Project.
