Troubleshooting: Extension Not Showing Up

Installed Spingle V2, but don't see it under Window > Extensions in Premiere Pro? Here are the most common reasons and solutions:

1. Premiere Pro Needs a Full Restart

  • Problem: Premiere Pro often doesn't recognize new extensions until it has been completely closed and reopened after the installation.

  • Solution: Save your project, fully Quit Adobe Premiere Pro (ensure no related processes are running in the background), and then relaunch Premiere Pro. Check Window > Extensions again. This solves the issue most of the time!

2. Incomplete or Failed Installation

  • Problem: The installer might not have completed correctly, or a required file might be missing.

  • Solution: Try re-running the Spingle V2 installer you downloaded. Follow the on-screen prompts carefully. Restart Premiere Pro again afterwards.

3. Conflicting Extensions or Cache Issues (Less Common)

  • Problem: Rarely, conflicts with other extensions or corrupted Premiere Pro caches can cause issues.

  • Solutions:

    • Try temporarily disabling other third-party extensions to see if Spingle appears.

    • Clear Premiere Pro's plugin cache (refer to Adobe's documentation for specific steps for your OS, as this is more advanced).

4. Incorrect Installation Location (Manual Installs - Rare)

  • Problem: If you manually placed the extension folder instead of using the installer, it might be in the wrong directory.

  • Solution: Ensure the com.avai.cleancut folder is placed directly within the correct CEP extensions folder:

    • Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/

    • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\ (or sometimes C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\)
