Using Spingle in Premiere Pro
The core Spingle workflow inside Adobe Premiere Pro
This guide covers the core workflow for the Spingle extension in Adobe Premiere Pro: adding sequences, setting your Project Context, analyzing, and using the two key actions, Selects and Create.

The Spingle Workflow
STEP 2: Add Sequence(s) and Prepare
Drag and drop one or more Premiere Pro sequences from your Project panel into the Spingle panel.


Only the top video track is visually analyzed.
Spingle visually processes the highest video track in your sequence. Video on lower tracks is ignored for visual analysis (audio is still read on all tracks).
This is by design for multicam: if you stack camera angles on V1 to V8, Spingle analyzes V8 rather than juggling eight perspectives. But it means B-roll on a lower track is invisible. Keep the footage you want analyzed on the top track.
GOOD: B-roll is on the top track (V2).

BAD: B-roll is hidden under the multicam on V1 and will be ignored.

Multiple sequences: add several to process them together.
Separate different scenes. Put distinct locations, subjects, or episodes in separate sequences before dragging them in. Spingle focuses better on one coherent batch at a time, and separate sequences keep audio speaker labels from bleeding between different people.

Use proxies. For 4K and RAW, create Premiere proxies first. Spingle auto-detects and uses them, which dramatically speeds up analysis. Learn about Adobe's proxy workflow.
Pro Tip: use proxies. Proxies upload far less data per clip, so analysis runs much faster, especially for high-resolution or RAW footage. Detach proxies before color grading or exporting your final edit.
STEP 3: Set Project Context and Analyze
Before Selects or Create, Spingle analyzes your footage once. Your Project Context here is the make-or-break input: Spingle applies it to every clip and pulls your Selects while it watches.
Click
Analyzeon your sequence (or all sequences).

Select project type (Wedding, Real Estate, Conference, or General). Use General if yours is not listed.

Write your Project Context. Describe the project, how it was shot, your deliverables, the pacing, and exactly what to keep and cut for B-roll and A-roll. Be specific, and describe only what is actually in your footage. See the Crafting Effective Prompts (Prompting Guide) for detailed guidance and examples.

Attach references. Drag in PDFs, scripts, storyboards, or shot lists, and images of key people labeled with names and roles. Keep it to a handful of concise files, and mention them in the prompt.
Pro Tip: describe your attachments in the prompt. For example: "I have attached the shooting script as a PDF and a storyboard image." This tells the AI what the files are and how to use them.

Label audio channels (dialogue and multicam sequences). When a sequence is dialogue, voiceover, or multicam, Spingle opens an audio setup step. Label each channel with who is on it, toggle channels on or off, and describe any complications in plain language (for example, "one shared mic passed between multiple speakers"). Turning a channel off just skips its analysis; it does not delete your audio. B-roll sequences skip this step.
Choose settings. Leave shaky footage detection on for the cleanest cuts, or turn it off for tripod, multicam, or fast teaser work to analyze 5 to 10 times faster. Set CPU mode higher on a powerful machine.

Begin analysis. Click the final
Analyze. Spingle reads your footage, temporarily uploads segments to secure cloud servers for AI processing, then deletes them from the cloud and saves results to a local cache. Your footage is never stored long-term or used for training. See Subprocessors.
Analysis time varies (roughly 30 to 60 minutes per hour of raw footage) with hardware, upload speed, and footage. Spingle copies your sequence into a Spingle Sequences bin. Step away and let it run.

Track progress. Open the Progress table (the arrow near the stop button) to see every clip's status, whether it is using a proxy or the original file, and any failed clips. Your Selects and Create history live here too.
STEP 4: Selects
Selects pulls the usable regions of your footage. Because the thinking happened during analysis, it is fast.
First, select or deselect sequences with the checkboxes so each prompt targets the right footage.

You have two ways to run Selects:
Use Spingle's Picks. No prompt needed. These are the selections Spingle made during analysis, driven by your Project Context. Export is near instant, and Spingle shows how much footage it will keep.
Refine with a prompt. Fine-tune the picks without re-analyzing, for example:
Use Spingle's Picks, but keep B-roll selects under 3 seconds.
Dial in strictness:
Shaky threshold: higher is stricter, lower keeps more. Around 35 suits handheld; 60 to 70 gives a clean tripod or gimbal look. Click the shaky control to turn it off for intentional camera motion. Changing it re-exports instantly.

Score: set a confidence threshold (0.0 to 1.0) in your prompt, for example
keep shots above a score of 0.6. Higher is stricter.Clip length: state durations in the prompt (ranges work best) rather than relying on rigid numeric limits.

Click Generate to export.
Output: a new sequence with the selected, usable regions on the track above and the rejected regions on the track below, so you can disable the whole rejected track in one click. The sequence name summarizes the action, source, prompt, and settings so you can tell exports apart.

You control the filtering. If Spingle misses a shot you want, lower the score or shaky threshold. If it keeps too much, raise them or add more specific criteria.

STEP 5: Create
Create assembles rough cuts for ideation. It is a fast baseline to react to, not a finished edit.
Choose your sources: select one or several sequences to pool into a single cut. Create can combine B-roll and interview sequences into one comprehensive rough cut.
Choose from Selects or from raw. Build from your Selects picks, or from all the raw footage when you want moments Selects filtered out.
Enter a prompt describing the length, pacing, and structure, for example:
create a 90 second reel, cuts 0.5 to 2 seconds, hold hero shots for 3 seconds.To generate several variations at once, press Batch, then Add Prompt for each variation. Each can have its own prompt and settings, and Spingle generates them in succession.
Click
Generate.
Output: a new rough-cut sequence for each prompt. Each carries a green marker at its start: double-click it to see the exact prompt and settings used.
Divide and conquer. Spingle does better with fewer tasks per prompt. For scripted or interview work, get the story cut right first, then handle B-roll in a separate pass.
STEP 6: Review and Iterate
Spingle creates and opens the new sequences, and logs every run in the Progress table with its prompt and settings.
For Selects: review the clips on the top track. Copy them into your edit, or refine again.
For Create: review each rough cut as a starting point, then rebuild your favorite direction with a tighter prompt.
Re-prompting is fast because Spingle reuses the cached analysis. Iterate freely: try a different prompt, adjust the shaky threshold, or change sources, all without re-analyzing.
Pro Tip: sample testing. For a large timeline, make a 15 minute test sequence, dial in your prompt there, then apply the winning prompt to the full sequence.
Cache and media paths. The local cache matches your original media file paths. If you move or rename source media, or open the project on a different computer, the cache may be invalidated and you will need to analyze again.
Changing your Project Context. Editing only the Project Context after analysis does not re-run it, because results are cached. To fully re-apply a new context, clear that project's cache in Settings > Manage Cached Projects and analyze again.
